Agustin Madala
– the brilliant young player from Argentina.
Four junior
players together – (from the left) the USA’s Kevin Bathurst with Canada’s David Grainger, Gavin Wolpert, and Vincent Demuy. The Canadian
junior trails are held at the end of the Worlds.
Mainstays
of one of Canada’s best teams – Jurek
Czyzowicz and Darren Wolpert
(Gavin’s older brother). Their team, Fergani,
was the only Canadian team to make it to the round of 32 in the Rosenblum, thus allowing either Canada or Mexico to have a
spot in the 2003 Bermuda Bowl (in 2003 there will be a playoff between the two
countries). As winners of the 2000
Canadian Team Championship, Jurek and Darren would
have had a chance to play in the 2001 Bermuda Bowl, but the Canada/Mexico/Bermuda
spot was eliminated when all three countries did poorly in the 2000 Olympiad,
an event that Jurek and Darren did not play in but
suffered the consequences of.
